Large natural boulders placed with equipment to build rugged, informal walls for slopes, driveways and rural properties.
Boulder walls have a rugged, natural look that suits rural properties, creek banks and steep slopes. Each boulder weighs hundreds or thousands of pounds, so the placement is done with equipment and care. Owners in Nashville and the hills beyond choose boulders when they want a wall that feels like part of the land.
We start with a Free Estimate and a walk of the slope to plan access for machinery. We excavate a stable base, set the largest boulders first with a slight batter into the hill, fit smaller stones to fill gaps, place filter fabric and clean gravel behind and plant the voids if you wish. Taller boulder walls are reviewed with an engineer, and we plan equipment access carefully to protect your yard. Access is the main planning question for a boulder wall. The machine and the delivery truck need a path, a place to stage stone and room to swing and set each piece. We walk the route with you, mark utilities and trees to protect and agree on where the equipment will travel. After the work, we regrade and restore disturbed areas, and we can seed, sod or plant native material so the new wall settles into the landscape quickly.
Placing heavy boulders safely takes machinery, planning and an experienced operator.
Each boulder is seated into the base and locked against its neighbors.
Irregular shapes and moss-friendly surfaces blend with native landscapes.
Filter fabric and gravel keep soil from washing out between stones.

You tell us what is wrong or what you want to build, and we set a visit that fits your day.
We walk the site, measure heights and lengths, look at soil and water paths and talk through what you want the space to do.
You receive a plain written scope with materials, drainage, engineering needs and the schedule before work begins.
We locate utilities, stake the wall line, excavate and build a compacted base that will carry the wall.
We build the wall course by course, add reinforcement as designed, install drains and place and compact clean backfill.
We add caps, steps and planting, clean up, restore the site and walk through the finished wall with you.
Many weigh from several hundred pounds to over a ton, which is why we use machinery.
We plan routes and use protection, and we repair what we disturb.
Large boulders can hold significant soil, and taller walls need engineering.
Yes. They protect slopes and creek banks when properly designed.
Yes. Native plants soften the wall and help hold soil.
